Bassbabies on the way Mon, Sep 19, 2011

I had a lovely 2 weeks in France during August. No internet or TV….just sunshine, a swimming pool, a piano and lots of books to read.
The emails hit me as soon as we landed on the British coast…nearly 200 of them.

A lovely one from Laura, Manager of Teaching & Learning at Surrey Arts saying that she hoped I wasn’t reading her email on holiday (or she would be cross!) to ask if I could produce a bass version of Stringbabies. This seems timely as really tiny basses are beginning to come into the UK!

I had thought the process through, pretty much to the end, of adapting Stringbabies for an instrument tuned in 4ths rather than 5ths but as nobody had asked for it, I wasn’t going to spend too much time writing it until I was asked.
Well, the book is well on the way…my better half (who does the graphics side for me) is once more contending with my scrawls and squiggles….
